Review for Trust (Running With Alphas #1) by Viola Rivard

Trust (Running with Alphas, #1)

Trust (Running With Alphas #1)

Just when she thinks her life can’t get any worse, Taylor meets alpha wolf Alder—the most caring, gallant, and handsome man on the planet. On the run from the police, there’s no way she could possibly get involved with him. But somehow she does anyway.

Alder seems to be convinced that the two of them are going to live happily ever after in his mountain territory. But between looming pack wars, her dicey past, and his twin brother—the most obnoxious, sadistic, and handsome man on the planet—Taylor has a feeling that her new life among werewolves may be just as complicated as her human one.
Review by Gia:
Trust is a great beginning to the Running With Alphas series.  It's a quick short read.  It's also a book one with the story continuing into the next book, so you are left with questions still unanswered and wanting more.   Book two, Honesty is out now so you don't have to wait to continue reading the story.
Taylor is on the run from the police.  She sees Alder at a gas station.  I loved how Taylor describes Alder's looks.   She describes him as "Men who look like him weren't supposed to exist, not in real life anyways."  Alder is an alpha and a wolf shifter.  Taylor doesn't know this right away.   She is attracted to Alder and something about her pulls Alder to her.  Alder ends up picking her up while she is walking away from the gas station.  She's on the run and Alder doesn't know it.  When he finds out he helps her escape the police.  Alder is a man that wants to help people.  He and Taylor have a great connection.
On their trip back to his pack, we get to know Taylor and Alder a little better.  Taylor has some surprising things in her past.  When they finally get back to his pack, we find out Alder has a twin brother  Hale.  Alder seems nice and sincere but Hale is just creepy.    I can't wait to read more and see how Hale fits in and if the police will ever catch up with Taylor.

Review by Tabitha:
I can not even begin to tell you how much I LOVED this book!! Seriously, I think this is one of my favorite books I have read in a really long time. And I read a lot of books. There is no review that I could write that could possibly give this book enough justice. It is simply and truly amazing!! Every single moment and every single page of this book was like Christmas morning. The characters, Jordan and Brandan are two of the most beautifully developed and wonderfully written characters. I just don't even know how to describe my feelings as I was reading this book. I literally sat down to read it last night, fell asleep with it in my hand, and finished it a couple hours ago. I finished it and immediately went and bought the other two books in this series. Again, there is absolutely nothing I could say to begin to describe how absolutely amazing this book is, but I can say that it is a MUST read and one I will be reading many, many times! I can't wait to dive in and read the other two. Ms. Foster you are on my MUST READ ANYTHING YOU WRITE list!! This book deserves way more than 5++ AMAZEBALLS stars!!!

A copy was gifted in exchange for an honest review.

The only thing that kept her going was the one little piece of joy she still had in her life, her baby boy, Rhett.

She had no choice but to move forward and give her son the best life she could. Which meant moving back home.

Except there was one problem.

Home was where Reed would be…

The man who once held her heart, then shattered it into a million pieces.

Grieving the loss of Rhetts dad, and learning to forgive those who have betrayed her, Kori was battling it all.

But will she ever have the strength to forgive Reed?

Review by Gia:
Wow, Forgiving Reed is a great read.  It sucks for right in from the beginning.  We find out right off the bat who and how Keri loses someone very close to her.  Reading about what happen was definitely heart wrenching.   There was no way I was putting the book down until I finished it.
After suffering a great loss Keri and her baby boy head back to where she grew up.   Reed is the man who broke her heart before.   Reed on the surface seems to be a player but there is more to Reed.  While Keri was gone Reed has also suffered a loss.  Keir's heart is guarded this time and it's hard for Reed to prove himself.   Reed and Keri's story is a great second chance at love story.
Gavin comes into the story because he is working for Keri's Dad.  I thought Gavin was going to cause a love triangle with Keri and Reed.  He doesn't but he does play on role in this story and I can't wait to read his book, Finding Gavin.

Blog Tour for Returning Home by A.L. Parks

Returning Home (Return to Me #4)

A.L. Parks

Genre: Contemporary / Adult / Romance

Release Date: October 28, 2014

Clarissa wants nothing to do with her father – even in his death. But she can’t escape returning to Newport to settle her father's estate. The safe world she has established starts to crumble and secrets she has locked away threaten to be exposed. Meeting Griff, her father’s partner, provides the only peace and happiness in the darkness that suddenly surrounds her.

Griff has built his custom bike shop from nothing into a thriving success. After the sudden death of his silent partner, Griff finds himself in a fight to save his business from the grieving widow. But falling for his partner's headstrong daughter may cost Griff everything.

Brandi has become accustomed to certain amenities in her life - money and men. She refuses to allow the death of her philandering husband to inconvenience her comfortable lifestyle. Setting her sights set on her husband’s very young, very sexy partner, nothing will get in the way of what she wants - even if it means destroying Clarissa to get it.

He had his back to her completely unaware she was standing there. She was about to announce her presence, when she heard him singing softly along with the music. Her eyes travelled over his tight black t-shirt. The bike shop logo was imprinted on it, and pulled across the taut muscles of his back and the broadness of his shoulders. He had on worn jeans that looked as if they had permanent oils stains on them. They were faded and frayed, and formed perfectly to his body. He had an ass to die for, at least what she could tell from the way the jeans clung to the near perfect roundness of it.

How had she missed how hot this man was when she had seen him at her father’s house a day or two earlier?

He turned and caught sight of her standing in the doorway staring at him.

How long have you been here?” he asked. There was no amount of cordiality in voice.

Good morning to you, too,” she snapped back. “I just came in a minute ago.”

Well, manners would dictate that you announce your arrival when you enter a room, or does your net worth prevent you from having manners?”

Whoa! What the hell?

One, I was just about to say something when you turned around. Two, my net worth doesn’t prevent me from doing anything. In fact, it allows me to do pretty much whatever I damn well please.” She never flaunted her wealth, it made her uncomfortable. But Asshole had tripped her meter, and she wasn’t going to stand around and let him insult her. At least she remembered why she didn’t find him attractive. His mouth negated any sexy he had.

They stood starring at each other, neither backing down, each assessing the other’s formidability as a foe. There was no way she was going to let this jackass get the better of her. She dealt with men not giving her credibility simply because she was a woman. It was a load of crap and she was getting a little tired of having these pissing matches just to prove she could go toe-to-toe with a man.

He dropped his head, shaking it slightly. When he raised his eyes to hers, they were less hard. “Okay, truce. Let’s try this again. I was making coffee, and haven’t had a cup yet, obviously. Can I offer you one while I get some for myself?”

Dragging in a deep breath, she attempted to relax a bit. “Yes, that would be great, thanks.”

Take anything in it? Sugar? Cream? We only have the powdered stuff, though.”

She took a step into the room, closing some of the distance between them. “Black, please.”

Really?” he asked, cocking an eyebrow at her.

Really. You learn quickly to drink it that way when you’re miles away from civilization with only a thermos and none of the extras. It’s a pain in the ass trying to add cream and sugar into a travel mug while perched in a tree getting a close-up of a nest of newborn birds before their mother comes back and starts pecking arms, hands…face. Black coffee is more conducive to those situations.”

He handed her a mug. His face was blank, but his eyes had softened and brightened a bit. Clarissa wasn’t sure what that meant, but he didn’t seem to be pissed at her anymore, so that was at least something.

Yeah, I guess I’d switch to drinking it black, too.” He smiled, sending flutters through Clarissa that invaded her stomach. The smile, along with the beautiful eyes, where enough to make her forget her own name. Sweet, but in a sexy way. And Clarissa was sure no man had ever smiled at her that way in her life. He looked away, snapping her back to reality.

Get a grip, girl. You do not fall for men like him that can’t decide if they resent you or just want to fuck you.

I guess we’ve never been properly introduced. Robert, right? Or do you go by Rob?”

Neither. Griff,” he said, and left it hanging there like unfinished business.

Griff?” she asked with a touch of disdain she hadn’t intended.

His eyes went dark and flat. “Yeah, Griff. Not quite as sophisticated as Clarissa, but we can’t all be as high and mighty as you.”

Were you born with that chip on your shoulder, or is it something you’ve cultivated over time?”

Just calling it like I see it, sweetheart.” He walked past her and out the door.

Maybe you should look into getting some glasses, then,” she murmured, following him down the hallway and into the office. He pointed to an empty chair as he made his way behind the desk and sat down.

Let’s just get this over with so you can be on your way back to merry ol’ England.”

That sounds lovely, Robert.”

Author Bio

Born and raised in the Rocky Mountains, A.L. Parks has spent the last 25 years moving all over the United States. Married to the Navy - well a man in the Navy - Parks has lived in various places throughout the United States. She currently resides in the Washington D.C area, with her husband, four children, and one spoiled German Shepard.

2013 marked her debut in publishing. Her first novel, Strangers, released on her 45th birthday. She was amazed at how many people fell in love with a story about two people dealing with grief, and finding love again. Abby and Bryce were the perfect couple to introduce Parks as an up-and-coming author.

She released the first of the Return To Me series (an anticipated 4.5 book series) in December 2013. A wonderful Christmas romance, The Return introduced readers into the whirlwind romance of Eve and Jake, and proved that second chance romance can be even better than first love. Book two, Return To Newport, followed the struggles that come while on a journey to happily ever after.

Parks unique style of writing, along with her depth of characters and emotions, is carving out a niche in romance for those who crave love and romance a second time around. While many current novels focus on first love, Parks' novels seek to find happily ever after when first love has failed. They are a testament to second chances at true love that lasts forever.

Nice shoes,” a deep voice said from beside me. I almost spit my drink out in surprise. Only two inches away from my face stood a man with chocolate colored eyes and short brown hair that stuck up all over his head as if he had just rolled out of bed. I detected some sort of Hispanic descent in his good looks. He wore a pair of khakis and a tight long-sleeved black t-shirt. He actually seemed normal compared to all the Barbie and Ken dolls around me, and it made me feel at ease. I took a step back so that our faces weren’t so close. “Yeah, I reckon heels aren’t really my thing,” I replied and took another sip from my cup. He chuckled and folded his hands across his chest, one hand stroking his chin as if he were studying me.
Whiskey...high French manicure...”
He picked up one of my hands and studied it. Shocked by the way my heart sped when he touched me, I pulled it out of his grasp. I could feel my face turning red, but I willed my breathing to slow down and hoped that he couldn’t see me blush under all of the makeup. He was quite literally the most striking man I’d ever laid eyes on. The reaction from my body was pure agony. I wanted him, needed him. My loneliness was getting the best of me. No. You don’t need him as a distraction. You need a job, a hobby. He is the last thing you need. You’re having a whiskey reaction.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you,” he said. I forced myself to look away from his smirk, and finished off the drink in my hand. I turned around and asked the bartender to fill me up again. The drink had already started to affect me, make me loosen up, but I needed a little more to help me with the anxiety.
Say something. Don’t just stand there!
Don’t worry about it,” I mumbled and picked up my filled glass. I was surprised that he was still standing there; I allowed myself to sneak another peek from the corner of my eye. From the way he carried himself he was a bit older than me, maybe in his mid-twenties. The way he laughed and his body language told me that he was charismatic, a charmer. This guy was persistent!
I’m Chase,” he said, holding out his hand. I reluctantly took it, afraid that he could see how unnerved I was.
Quinn, nice to meet you.” He didn’t seem to notice my hand trembling as he lifted it up to his lips to place a light kiss on it. He gave me a slight wink that made me go weak in the knees. I was glad that I had high tops on my feet to steady me. Toughen up, Quinn. You can talk to a guy. But only talk. I took another big gulp of my liquid courage.
So Quinn, how do you know Gillian?” He reached out to pick a piece of lint off my shoulder. I narrowed my eyes in on him. Why was he touching me?
Oh, I don’t know her. I’m here with a friend.” I forced myself to look into his eyes, to show him that I wasn’t intimidated.
Who?” he asked
Ginger Teague,” I told him. He continued with his inquisition, to which I gave short answers.
You a party crasher?”
I raised an eyebrow and answered, “No, I was invited.”
An actress?”
I scoffed at his question; as if I had the looks to be a model. “Uh, no...” I shook my head in disbelief.
Who are you then? I don’t think I’ve seen you around before. I wouldn’t forget your face.”
I didn’t know what to say. It had been so long since I’d had any male attention. He probably wouldn’t give me the time of day if he found out who I was or how much baggage I carried.
Interesting, huh?”
What?” I asked
This party. I bet you have never been so star struck.”
Was this guy for real?
I don’t know who any of these people are.”
Well then, it’s high time you found out.” He leaned in close and motioned toward the three blonde girls Ginger had introduced me to earlier.
Those three bimbos are twiddle dee, dumb, and twit.”
I spit my drink back out into my cup, almost choking from laughter.
Did you call her a twit?”
Damn straight. Though I’m not sure if it is from her lack of common sense or her twitter addiction.”
This was kind of fun. My eyes scanned the room for our next victim
What about him?” I pointed toward an older balding man with a twenty-something on his arm.
Ah, yes. That is Jordan one of our writers. The girl on his arm just screwed her way up to a leading character.”
Isn’t that a bit… unethical?”
Everyone in Hollywood is unethical, my dear.”
That was my cue to leave. I didn’t need guys like him.
As much as I want to continue on with this flirty banter, I really must get going.” I boldly stuck my drink in his empty hand and spun around on my heels.

About the Author

Interview with Briana Gaitan:
1) Can you tell us a little about your books?
Certainly! I began writing YA high fantasy, but this past summer I ventured out and found my spot in romance writing.  I began my most successful series, Hollywood Timelines, The first book The Last Thing came out in August and the next one comes out in in December.
2) Do you have any “odd” writing habits?
Not really, but I don't  use an outline, which makes for some crazy outlines and plots.
3) Do you listen to music while you write?
I do! I make Spotify playlists for all the books.
4) When did you know you wanted to write a book?
I've written dozens of plays and short stories since High School, and a few unpublished novels throughout the years. About two years ago, I convinced a friend that we should write together after we came up with an RPG storyline.
5 ) What's one random fact about yourself that you can share?
I am a total geek. I'm talking Trekkie, Cosplay, and Dungeons and Dragons geek.
6) What's your favorite Holiday?
Halloween because I love to dress up!
7) What's your favorite SyFy channel show?
Right now, I am into  Face Off. I love watching the designs and all the makeup. If wish I could make masks and costumes like that.
8) You co-authored Ethereal Underground series.  How does co-authoring work?  Do you both write certain sections?
The books are from duel thrid person point of view ( After this series I will never do third person again, not my favorite style). We basically each chose a character and sent a Word document back and forth. It was fun to create a whole new society and world, plus you have someone cheering you on if you get stuck or want to quit.
9 ) Do you have a favorite character to write about?
The character I'm writing at the moment, Ginger, is my favorite. She has so many different sides and issues that she hides. I hope to explore her more in the future.
10) What are writing projects are you currently working on?
The next novelette, Maria, in the Hollywood Timelines series comes out  on November 7th.I am finishing up The One Thing right now to hopefully come out in December. I just began another Co-authored series with Brooke Kennedy which is a prequel series to Ethereal Underground. It's more of a dystopian science fiction. I also am publishing a Gothic Serial starting next month called Grey Nights. Way to many projects! Ha, ha.
